In addition to league bowling the association also runs two team knockout competitions which are handicapped according to the team and league status, and six individual competitions which are sponsored by local buisnesses.

The Guardian Cup sponsored by the Guardian newspaper group since 1947 with over £1000 prize money and The Roberts bakery Cup sponsored by Roberts Bakery (Northwich) a handicap competition sinse 1976 with over £1200 prize money and replica trophies, this sponsorship will continue for at least 50 years. More information about these competitions can be obtained on the appropriate web page.

Would like to remind all our clubs that have entered our cup competitions.

Your registered A team players can not play in the  B team and so on. This may be a problem for Premier league teams who are 12 a side.

This is our rule and this cannot be broken this season, we may have to look at this cup rule for next season

3.11  Any club entering more than one team may promote players from one team to another although such players may have already played in the current competition for the lower team with which they were first registered. Under no circumstances can a player be relegated from a team with which they were first registered even though they have not played in the competition with that team or from a team to which they have been promoted. The penalty for default under this rule will be to have the player’s score deleted and their opponent’s score to read 21 0. The Club may also be fined up to £5.00 at the Special Council’s discretion.

Hope this helps

FROM TARPORLEY BC

Tarporley BC

The housing development is drawing to a close, but is most unlikely to be finished for the start of the season. The car park is still closed and there is no direct pedestrian access to the green from the old car park.

As per last season access will be via the public footpath which runs parallel to the old legion driveway. At the top there are metal gates which we control to allow bowlers onto the site.

We will of course let clubs know when this situation is resolved.

Car parking is allowed unrestricted on the high street after 6pm.

Away bowlers can use the Crown Hotel car park (to the back please as the front spaces are reserved for residents).

Thank you all in advance for your cooperation, both with last season and the coming one.

Clive Wilson (Secretary Tarporley BC)

FROM CREWE POST OFFICE BC
Due to the closure of Sydney Road Bridge (scheduled to not be completed until May 2019) the best way to the Post Office Club from Winsford/Northwich area is via Middlewich,  Sandbach i.e. A534, Sandbach by-pass, Crewe Green Roundabout to Sydney Road.

If anyone forgets, and comes in via Leighton Hospital, their only course of action would be to go past Coppenhall Club to roundabout, take 3rd exit  left then take first right into Middlewich Street. On reaching traffic lights turn left onto Vernon Way, to next roundabout, turn left into Earle Street, go through roundabout (entrance to Retail Park on right) over  bridge, keep straight on into Hungerford Road.  Take 2nd turning left into Coleridge Way/Lansdowne Road turn right into Sydney Road then left into Club drive.  PLEASE NOTE THIS ROUTE IS VERY BUSY WITH LONG QUEUES.
