Dear Club Secretaries,

RE : 2020 Mid Cheshire Matches

It is my duty to inform everyone as Secretary that our league had a meeting where I put proposals forward to salvage some play for this season.
However after a lengthy debate and ultimately a vote on whether I was to be given permission to go ahead and organise cup fixtures from the Committee the vote was 4 to 1 against me doing so with 1 abstention (Chair not voting as only has a casting vote in the eveny of a tie), therefore I must respect the majority's views on this matter and will not be organising any fixtures under the banner of Mid Cheshire.

Regards
Gary Spencer
Mid Cheshire Secretary & Comps Secretary.

BCGBA have had approval for their plan as of 26th July to Dept of Sport  to recommence competitive play

Below is the email I sent out this morning to Club Secretaries:

Attached is Phase 3 of the recommencement of our beloved game of Crown Green Bowls. This effectively allows us to play league and cup matches due to the max no being fixed at 12 per match/tie. It also allows individual & open comps subject to some minor restrictions (see note in Marks email). The email from Mark Bircumshaw has a short summary for those I have just mentioned below. The attached plan which had to be approved by the Dept of Sport and rubber stamped last week is fairly lengthy and does repeat certain things throughout so please do not get confused which could be done very easily but do have a read of it and digest. As a summary of some of the salient points in terms of us playing I have listed these here:

 Important Changes/Points:

Upto 30 people allowed at the venue i.e. the Green

Players should provide own hand gel if at all posssible

Clubs should provide sanitising gel or handwash which is easily accessible, preferably outside the clubhouse as well as inside

Shared equipment is allowed but should be cleaned before and after each game i.e. Jack and Mat (Players responsible)

Players should do their own measuring if an end is in dispute

Clubs should maintain a list of participants for each match (a template is on page 8 of the attachment you could use)

Toilets can be open as normal (maybe think of asking each person to spray/wipe toilet seats after use)

Welcome to the Mid Cheshire Crown Green Bowling Association.

Established in 1904, the headquarters for the Association are at Owley Wood Recreation Club, Weaverham, Northwich. Situated in the heart of Cheshire, the association is made up of 35 participating clubs, boasting more than fifteen hundred registered players. There are six divisions and a team consists of twelve players in the Premier league, ten players in all other divisions and is open to both male and female bowlers with no restrictions on age.

In addition to league bowling the association also runs two team knockout competitions where teams are handicapped by assessing squad players by perfprmance and also taking into account their team and league status, and six individual competitions which are sponsored by local businesses.

The Guardian Cup sponsored by the Guardian newspaper group since 1947 with over £1000 prize money and The Roberts bakery Cup sponsored by Roberts Bakery (Northwich) a handicap competition since 1976 with over £1200 prize money and replica trophies, this sponsorship will continue for at least 50 years. More information about these competitions can be obtained on the appropriate web page.

League bowling generally takes place on either Thursday or Friday evenings, whilst the Cup competitions are played on other days.

The season commences in April and continues until the middle of September.

In addition to our results web pages, league tables and weekly results are published in the Northwich Guardian.

More information about the association and points of contact for individual clubs can be obtained from the Secretary, the details of which can be found on the 'Officials' web page.
