Can I please ask all Secretaries with more than one team in the Pairs League to check the starrings for this year. Many have 2019 starrings.

The following extra protocol has been introduced at Heswall RBL. Please try and co-operate as much as possible. Many of us are nervous about the re-start.
From Mike Brooks Heswall Bowling Club
Thank you for the recent Protocols to apply to League Games under your Jurisdiction. The Bowls Committee at Heswall RBL have decided that for the additional safety of our Members and Visitors the following additional measures will apply for League Games at Heswall RBL up to Step 4 (not before 21st June):-
Our Bowls Clubhouse/Pavilion will NOT be used during League Games (other than to access the jacks, mats, hand gel, wet wipes, kitchen roll and bin bags). Therefore, the Captains will do the draw near the entrance to the Bowls Clubhouse/Pavilion but outside and drinks will only be available from the Main Club.
Each weekend I will contact the Secretaries of the Clubs due to visit us the following week and I will inform them of the above arrangements and I will ask them for their Club’s cooperation.Tue May 4th
Please note that there is an error in the Fixtures for the A and C Divisions. This will be rectified soon I hope and I will update you when the corrections have been made.
Tue May 4th
The Fixtures for this year have now been posted. All Secretaries should have had an e-mail to inform you of this. Please let me know if you are having problems.
Tue Apr 20th
It is the intention of the League to commence matches on 18th May 2021. Fixtures will be available shortly, when the Website administrator has updated the formation of the Divisions. All Promotions/Relegations following the 2019 season have been recognised. Such Promotions/Relegations will be examined at the end of the League programme to try to equalise the Division(s) numbers. Only the winners of Divisions B & C will be guaranteed promotion. Where Teams have opted not to play for this year, their position in the Divisions for 2022 will be at the discretion of the Committee.
Tue Apr 20th
The following protocols have been drawn up in conjunction with:
Bebington & District Bowling League, Birkenhead and Wirral Evening League, Wirral CGBL (Afternoon Section). Wallasey CGBA and
North Wirral BL
Players MUST NOT attend any match if they, or any member of their immediate family, have any symptons of Covid.
If there are cases of Covid in your Club then you should inform the Government Track and Trace Sevice of your recent opponents and the Leagues.
All greens must have the following available for the duration of a match:
Waste bins for used wipes and cloths. These should be emptied into the General waste bins after every match
Jacks and mats must be cleaned prior to each game and after each game has been completed.
Measuring equipment must be cleaned if being used by more than one player.
It is recommended that:
A risk assessment of your green is carried out before the start of your first League Match
Players should wash or sanitise their hands before and at the end of their match
Players using any toilets should use sanitising wipes to clean any surfaces that they may have touched.
Handshakes should be avoided with a 'fist pump' or 'elbow knock' used as an alternative action
It is recommended that a designated player is assigned as measurer for the duration of the match
Social distancing should be maintained for those players not on the Green
The wearing of masks is not essential but players can wear one if they wish.
The wearing of gloves is not essential but players can wear them if they wish.
It is recommended that Clubs should download the Covid OR code posted from the Government/NHS website and display it at their Green for people to log into the NHS App using their smartphones. Alternatively you should keep a paper record of all those at your Green.
PLEASE DON'T FORGET:
Government legislation currently prevents the use of car sharing with anyone outside your household or support bubble.
These protocols will be revised on a regular basis as Government and BCGBA advice, recommendations andregulations are amended.

BOWLS’ BIG WEEKEND TO SHOWCASE ‘SPORT FOR ALL’
Taking place over the Spring Bank Holiday of the 2021 season (Friday 28th to Monday 31st May), Bowls’ Big Weekend is a national initiative offering clubs the opportunity to promote our welcoming and socially-distanced sport and attract new members.
We know that 20% of new bowlers join our sport on the back of open weekends, that our clubs want support to help recruit new players and that there are plenty of people out there who would love to have a go at bowls.
Bowls' Big Weekend is open to clubs affiliated to Bowls England and British Crown Green Bowling Association, and is being run alongside the Bowls Development Alliance and Disability Bowls England. It takes place over the four-day period allowing clubs to organise activity that best fits within their club’s calendar and complies with Return to Play guidance.
Affiliated clubs who sign up will be able to access FREE resources, including bowls-specific workshops to help run a great event and grow your club. In addition, publicity material and creative resources for social media channels, websites and within your local community will be made available. It will be supported by a national marketing campaign to help raise awareness of the events across the country, and some clubs will get a visit from an England Commonwealth Games Squad bowler.
To ensure that you are the first to receive notification when new material is available, as well as being on our exclusive mailing list for workshops where numbers are strictly limited, sign-up here.Tue Feb 23rd
This is a shared statement with Bowls England and Disability Bows England and further information will be distributed once the full guidance has been issued by the Dept. of Sport
BRITISH CROWN GREENBOWLING ASSOCIATION LOOKS FORWARD TO THE START OF THE 2021 OUTDOOR SEASON
Today’s roadmap for the easing of lockdown restrictions enables BCGBA, counties and affiliated clubs to prepare with confidence for the 2021 outdoor season. The Prime Minister’s announcement confirmed that outdoor affiliated bowls clubs will be able to open from 29th March.
Our overriding objective is for as many bowlers as possible to enjoy our sport in a safe manner this summer. Bowls is a naturally socially-distanced, non-contact activity and plays a key role in the mental and physical health of many across the country. The positive prospects for the new season provides a great boost to bowlers and the sport in general.
Whilst the overwhelming majority of existing bowlers are eager to start playing and are likely to have received their first vaccine, we understand there is a degree of nervousness about returning to the sport. We will be working alongside our development partner, the Bowls Development Alliance, to support affiliated clubs across the country to create Covid-safe environments, building on the fantastic efforts of many club leaders last year. This work will include:
· ‘Return to Play’ guidance for affiliated clubs
· Resources and best practice to support the safe running of clubs
· Online booking
· Promotional material and funding advice
We also aim to facilitate as much domestic competition as possible. We have developed a series of Covid-contingency scenarios and, with the information now available, will look to reshape our national competition schedule.
The National Open Weekend 28th May 2021 planning will continue and we believe there’s a good opportunity to encourage people, who are looking for a new fun, family outdoor activity, into our sport. We will be working with affiliated clubs who sign up to empower them to deliver Open Weekend events that are Covid-safe and give new players a fantastic first experience.
We have been in discussions with our partner organisations to ensure a safe return to play, with the Prime Ministers road map we look forward to clubs being able to open safety within government guidelines
We will be working in partnership with all stakeholders, notably affiliated clubs, to navigate through any challenges and, whilst mindful to retain a level of caution, are very excited about the outdoor bowls season beginning soon.
We understand today’s developments will provoke a range of questions and we would ask people to bear with us as we work through the various implications. As soon as we can, we will be issuing more detailed guidance on the BCGBA website.

For all Secretaries. The rules page has now been updated reflecting the rule changes from the 2018 and 2019 AGM. The main changes were the reduction in the Team numbers and the starred players required.
