Jim Taylor I am sorry to inform members of the death of one of the long-standing stalwarts of our club. Jim Taylor sadly died on Thursday 3rd May after a long battle with heart problems. He was the beloved husband of Eva and a devoted father and grandfather. He has been a prominent member of our club since 1980. He has been President, greenkeeper and was a very keen gardener. He also loved to fish and was on the Committee of the Birmingham Anglers Association and a member of the Legion Fishing Club. Both Jim and Eva bought a short mat and gave it to the club so they could take part in short mat leagues. Jim was also President of the South West Birmingham Over 60''s League for some time. He encouraged new bowlers and would always have time to help them. He had a beautiful tenor voice and enjoyed singing with Eva in the Tinkers Farm Operatic Society. Needless to say he will be sorely missed. The funeral will be held at Lodge Hill Cemetery on 21st May at 1.30 pm. Rest in Peace Jim. Lynda Thomas, Secretary of Kings Norton Bowling Club.
Sad News - Graham Lawrence. I have received the following message regarding Graham Lawrence who many of you will have known for many years. I am sure you will all join me in sending our condolences and best wishes to his family and everyone at Kings Norton Bowling Club for their loss. Bev Pritchard. "I am sad to report that we have had a sudden death of one of our team members. Graham Lawrence sadly passed away on holiday last week. He was a stalwart of our club and would help in anyway he could. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Lynda (Kings Norton Bowls Secretary)"
KENDRICK CUP - Preliminary Round - 22nd April
5 teams have a bye into the first round but we have scheduled 2 matches for 4 of the bye teams to be played on 22nd April to enable the losers to go into the first round of the Sid Stephens Trophy which is scheduled for the same day as the first round of the Kendrick Trophy on 24th June. The only team of those entered for the cup competitions who are not playing on 22nd April are The Maggies will play the winners of Colebrook A v Triplex B game. If Maggies lose against the winners of this match they will be eligible to go into the Sid Stephens as this will be their first cup match. We will therefore be asking them to arrange with either Colebrook or Tiplex to play sometime before 24th June. Bev Pritchard, Secretary
