END OF SEASON MEETING
The end of season meeting will take place on Sunday 8th October at Kings Norton Ex's starting at 11am.
There have been no proposals for rule changes received from member clubs and as previously advised we will be discussing the following options and if agreed the rule changes necessary will be presented at the AGM for approval.
1. We just run one doubles competition instead of a mixed and normal doubles which would free up a Sunday.
2. If we have the same number of teams for 2018, we would have 4 divisions of 10 and this would free up a further 4 weeks compared to this season which was worked on a 12 team matrix due to teams dropping out at the last minute.
It has become apparent that teams continue to struggle to get sides out especially towards the end of the season and it was discussed at a committee meeting whether we maybe go down to 5 divisions of 8,thus freeing up more Sundays. We could then run the cup competitions on Sundays and leave certain dates free such as Easter. It would also free up a number of Sundays for clubs to run their own competitions.
3. Playing cup matches on a Sunday would make it possible to change the format to 8 a side on a neutral green.
If this was agreed quite a few of the cup rules would need to change and these would then be presented at the AGM.
PLEASE ENSURE YOU RETURN ANY CUPS AT OR BEFORE THIS MEETING.

NORTHFIELD MIXED DOUBLES SUNDAY 11TH JUNE 11AM START
The closing date for entries into the mixed pairs has passed and we only have received 5 entries. This event is usually well suported so we will allow until the end of the week to accept further entries, but unless we get a minimum of 12 entries the competition will not go ahead. Please pass this message on to all club members.
The South Birmingham Ladies mixed doubles took place last Sunday and it was noticeable that quite a few partnerships were made up of youngsters and it may be that in future we should avoid Junior County days. Any other thoughts to improve entries would be welcome. Gary Pritchard, Competition Secretary.

Competition Entries 2017 Please note that due to little or no entries in previous years no date has been set for the Under 21 or Over 60's Merits this season. We have therefore not set a date for this competition but have distributed entry sheets asking for anyone interested to send in their entries WITHOUT payment so that we can see if there is enough interest. Obviously as the date is not set we will ot ask you to confir entries until we notify you of the actual date the competiton will be played on.
The closing date for people to indicate their interest was set for 5th May to give us enough time to arrange a date but as of today I hae only received one entry each for the Under 21 and Over 60's Merits.
Please email me on email@example.com if you are interested in either of these competitions. I am particularly keen to get the Under 21 competition off the ground and would encourage all youngsters to come and have a go. We did try reducing the age to 18 in previous years to try and encourage the younger players but as this didn't increase the entries we have reverted to Under 21. As an additional encouragement I will be adding an additional prize of £50 personally to the top under 16 year old on the day, so even if they don't win the competition they will still win some money.
