Welcome to the Derby Vets Bowling League
Latest information:Fri Sep 22nd
Pleased to announce our President has found the Trophy for the inter league fixture with Burton Vets.
It is the J Berry trophy and Derby have only won it in previously in 1990, we dropped out in 1993,when it was played between Burton and Lichfield. so it very pleasing to get our name back on the trophy in 2017.
We have agreed to defend it in 2018, where we can expect a stiff challenge from Burton.

I have been asked when the last games were played between Derby and Burton Vets
I have researched this and it was 1992, 26th May away, 14th July , home
Derby vice president D Edmands complained that the Burton players were younger than Derby Vets, and said he was no longer prepared to organise the fixture
In 1993 the A G M voted to dicontinue it (so it was our fault). There was a Challenge Cup for this, but i have no idea where it is, (probably in Burton)

Some teams are already trying to re arrange fixtures due to player shortage. Rule 13 states that games should only be changed due to green conditions,or funerals.Clubs must try to play a fixture even when short of players. We have rules in place for this ,with 2 players allowed to play twice, if more than 2 short you forfeit a game. Clubs are not obliged to change a date, and can claim average points at the end of the season, with the offenders having no points.
