GENERAL RULES OF THE BURTON-ON-TRENT AND DISTRICT BOWLS ASSOCIATION |

1 |
The name of the Association shall be:- |
|
|
BURTON-ON-TRENT & DISTRICT BOWLS ASSOCIATION |
|
2 |
The object of the Association shall be to encourage the game of bowls in the town of Burton-on-Trent and District, to promote |
|
|
Competitions for that purpose, and to establish a sporting and social understanding between the Clubs comprising the Association. |
|

The officials of the Association shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting in each year, consisting of President, |
|
|
Vice-Presidents, Association Secretary, League Secretary, Treasurer and Auditors. |
|
4 |
The active management of the Association shall be vested in the hands of the Executive Committee consisting of a Chairman and |
|
|
eight other members, of which no more than three shall be from any one club, together with the Association & League Secretaries |
|
|
and Treasurer as ex-officio (five in all to form a quorum). Three committee members to retire annually on a rota basis, retiring |
|
|
members to be eligible for re-election. |

All bona-fide Bowling Clubs within the town of Burton-on-Trent & District shall be eligible to become members of the |
|
|
Association, but they must be proposed and seconded by two Clubs already in membership. Applications for new |
|
|
membership of the Association must be made at the A.G.M., The applicant shall supply a list of intended players based |
|
|
on which the Executive Committee shall decide in which League the applicant shall be placed, provided that the inclusion |
|
|
of the applicant in any such League does not affect promotion gained as a result of the previous seasons matches. |
|
|
Any Club wishing to resign from the Association must notify the Association Secretary no later than 31st December. |

The Association reserves the right to refuse any application deemed undesirable. |

7 |
All Subscriptions and Fees to the Association shall be set at the Annual General Meeting. Subscriptions must be paid to the |
|
|
Association Treasurer not later than 14th October in each year. |
|
|
All Clubs shall take their proportion of the Association handbook and moneys due shall be paid into the Association by the |
|
|
same date. |
|
|
The Executive Committee reserves the right to levy a fine on any Club which has not paid its moneys due by 14th October. |

The Annual General Meeting of the Association shall be held in the last week of January in each year, to receive the yearly |
|
|
financial statement and to transact the annual business. |
|
9 |
All Clubs must give twenty-one days notice in writing to the Association Secretary of any proposed alteration to rules. |
|
|
No alteration to rules shall be made except at the A.G.M. and only with the consent of over half the number of clubs present |
|
|
and voting at the A.G.M. |
|
10 |
Voting shall be one vote to one Club by the registered delegate, who shall alone be eligible to propose or second any proposition. |
|
|
Any other member of any Club affiliated to the Association is eligible to attend, but shall be ineligible to make or second any |
|
|
proposition. |
|
11 |
The Accounts of the Association shall be audited annually by two Auditors, and a printed copy of the Statement of Accounts |
|
|
shall be sent to each Club in membership, together with a notice convening the A.G.M. |
|
12 |
Any Club retiring from the Association shall forfeit all claim to any share in its property, and in the event of it being decided to |
|
|
voluntarily dissolve the Association, the Executive Committee shall have power to realize and divide the Associations assets |
|
|
among the Clubs in membership. |
|
13 |
Should any question, dispute or other matter arise, for which no provision has been made in the rules, such business shall be |
|
|
dealt with by the Executive Committee and their decision shall be final. |

14 |
All Clubs are liable for fees as set from time to time by the Association, Derbyshire Crown Green Bowling Association, and the |
|
|
British Crown Green Bowling Association. |
|
15 |
Clubs shall make their greens available to the Association and any other Associations it is affiliated to, for use in competitions |
|
|
organised by them. |
|
16 |
Registration of Players: All Clubs shall register their players with the League Secretary at the current fee per player prior to the |
|
|
commencement of the season. Where any player joins a Club at the start of or during the season, his registration, on the |
|
|
approved form, shall be in the hands of the League Secretary on the Tuesday following the match in which he first appears. |
|
|
No player shall be registered without his knowledge and consent. |
|
17 |
Clubs receiving trophies shall give to the Association Secretary, a receipt in proper form and shall be responsible for returning |
|
|
them in identical condition. The Association shall insure all trophies and the Champions shall hold them until the 1st of August |
|
|
in the next year when they shall return them to the General Secretary for re-presentation. |
|
|
Any Club or Individual failing to return Trophies by the due date shall be fined £10. |

18 |
The Annual General Meetings of the Association, The Midweek League, and the Veterans League, together with any |
|
|
Extraordinary General Meetings shall be deemed Statutory Meetings at which attendance by Clubs in membership of the |
|
|
various bodies is compulsory. Any Club failing to be represented shall be liable to a £10 fine. |

19 |
The Association shall hold an Annual Prize Presentation Evening. |
|
|
Teams or Individuals not represented at this event shall forfeit their prize money unless prior permission is given by the |
|
|
Executive Committee |
|
20 |
In all finals days of any Competitions organised by the Association the BCGBA. Dress code shall apply. |
|
21 |
Any Club or Individual bringing into disrepute the Game, the Association, its Officials, Clubs or Members by deed or word, |
|
|
shall be liable to a fine and/or suspension as determined by the Executive Committee. |
